ABOUT

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is perhaps one of the most well-known and yet the most obscure committees there is. You may not know it, but the UNHRC has jurisdiction over the majority of the violation of human rights in many respects, such as the violation of fair legal procedure and necessities in many situations across the globe. It investigates many thematic issues such as the rights of many minority groups as well. Join us in this thrilling and extremely controversial committee that will have you questioning your beliefs and looking at the way the world works from a completely new angle!

UNHRC Position Matrix

Anu Arun

Anu Arun is a sophomore at Eastlake High School and simply cannot express her excitement to be serving as UNHRC’s Co-Director! After starting her MUN journey through a screen in a conference taking place across the nation, she grew to love the fast-paced world of MUN! Since her accidental sign-up for an intermediate-level conference without any experience, MUN has helped Anu become an exemplary speaker and develop the confidence to share her ideas in a room of strangers. Outside of the committee room, Anu can be found obsessively reading historical fiction novels about WW2, powering through AP World History, and trying to balance all four of her club schedules. She can't wait to help delegates to engage in exciting debate and is ecstatic to see everyone at EverMUN 2024!

Suhaani Gulati

Suhaani Gulati is an 8th grader at Evergreen Middle School and is absolutely delighted to be serving as the Co-Director for UNHRC at EverMUN 2024 this year! From her first step into diplomacy as a 6th grader at EverMUN 2022, her MUN journey, though quite interesting, has also brought her the knowledge she needed to be a powerful speaker, not just in a MUN conference, but in school and other clubs as well. Outside of MUN, you can find Suhaani completely drowning in homework, going for a run, wrestling with her brother, obsessively eating fruit, and reading realistic fiction novels. With all that said, she is absolutely overjoyed to meet everyone at EverMUN 2024 this year!
